Breeding

BREEDING - LUMMAS EBONY(Foundation Mare) Blood lines go back to the stallion Lummas Comet who was born in 1945 and made a big name for himself in the show ring winning the dales championship at the Royal Show held at Newcastle in 1962.  Richie used to ride Comet from a very early age, he was very quiet.

Ebony has had 8 foals, 5 of them sired by Slateyford Diamond and 3 by Tarbarl Gypsy Lad.  Lowhouses J.R. was her first foal now owned by Dain Atherden in Buckinghamshire. Lowhouses Amba, the brood mare broken to saddle was sold in 2013 to Warwick to a retired headteacher who is really enjoying her and says she is everything she hoped for. Lowhouses Gina has done well in the show ring and hopefully will breed a foal in 2015. Lowhouses Monica born in 2010 has excelled in the show ring winning at the Spring Breed Shows as a 2 y.o. in 2012 and the 3 y.o. class and youngstock champion in 2013.  Also in 2013 she was champion mountain and moorland at Lanchester Show in July and also at the Lanchester Indoor Show in November. In 2016 Monica gve birth to a smart filly foal 'Clova' by Lowhouses Black Magic and won the Brood Mare with foal at foot class at the Centenary Summer Show at Barnard Castle and also at Wolsingham & Stanhope Agricultural shows. Clova won the Eggleston show, was second at Wolsingham and third at Stanhope & Barnard Castle.

Georgina (2014) is a smart filly and won the yearling filly class at the Spring Breed Show in 2015.

RAYGILL GEMMA(Foundation Mare) This mare was shown numerous times inhand and under saddle, her biggest success was winning the overall championship at the Breed Summer Show in 1997.

Gemma bred 11 foals all sired by Ashwood Black Prince . Her first foal -Anna- born in 1986 went on to breed 19 foals - 12 by Lummas Prince and 7 by Slateyford Diamond, and her progeny have excelled in the show ring - especially the gelding Lowhouses Rebel who qualified for Olympia and has been to HOYS three times. Anna herself won the overall foal championship at the summer breed show in 1986, and went on to win many rosettes.

Lowhouses Rebecca 1997 was Gemma’s last foal and has also excelled in the show ring winning the championship at the Great Yorkshire Show both in 2010 and 2011. Rebecca has had 6 foals - the gelding Danny Boy sold locally does well in Working Hunter classes, also Matt in Peterborough is doing well over jumps, and Gemma(2011) is in the process of being broken and hopefully will take after her mother and grandmother in the show ring.

In 2015 Rebecca produced twin colt foals which are now geldings and maturing nicely
